Denver Theater Rooms

Home Theater Denver. It has often been said that the room is the most important component in a home theater system. Why is that true? This questions requires a very long and complex answer. But I will try to give a brief summary here and in another entry coming soon.

The first issue is the problem of room modes. This is one of the toughest problems for a home theater system. Bass(20-200 hz) wave lengths are much longer than the average room. Room modes are the reflection of these bass frequencies back into the room and interfering with the original wave length. The result is summing or cancel of these frequencies in the room.

Home Theater Denver. There are several ways to deal with the problem of room modes. The most important has to do with the shape of the room. Other solutions include proper speaker placement and installing absorptive materials in the room.

Check back for a discussion of some other issues which relate to a room’s affect on sound.
